“Full-service” should mean one company handles the whole property rather than sending you to three contractors. Ours breaks into five areas:
Lawn & Yard Care — mowing, edging, core aeration, overseeding, fertilisation, weed control, and moss treatment. Recurring or one-off. This is also, by the numbers, the highest-return work in landscaping.
Landscaping & Design — site assessment, concept layouts, planting plans, drainage and grade planning, and multi-season phasing, then the installation. One team designs and builds, so nothing is lost in a handoff.
Hardscaping & Outdoor Structures — paver patios, stone walkways, retaining walls, steps, outdoor kitchens, and fire features, built on a base engineered for Willamette Valley clay.
Outdoor Structures — pergolas, arbors, gazebos, and covered patios, with the Portland permit thresholds worked out before design.
Seasonal & Specialized Services — spring and fall cleanup, leaf removal, winter prep, gutters, pressure washing, drainage and grading, landscape lighting, snow and storm response, and Christmas light installation.
We also work to sustainable practices throughout — native and region-appropriate planting, zoned irrigation, and permeable paving where it makes sense.

Oregon gives you more protection than most states, and almost nobody uses it. Five checks, in order of how much they matter.
1. Verify the licence — and know there are two. Oregon requires an individual Landscape Construction Professional licence for whoever supervises the job, and a separate business licence for the company holding the contract. The LCB’s public lookup confirms both. Ours is LCB #9977.
2. Check the licence phase. The licence card states which phase of work the business may advertise for or perform. A business working outside its phase risks a civil penalty — and you risk a job nobody is accountable for. If a company quotes work that looks outside its scope, ask.
3. Insist on the written contract you’re legally owed. Oregon requires a written contract for any landscaping work of $2,000 or more, and it must contain specific elements: the business name and licence number, physical and mailing address, phone number, a statement that the business is licensed by the State Landscape Contractors Board, and the board’s own address and phone. Since January 2024 it must also include an attached Notice of Right to Cancel — you get three business days to cancel in writing. Change orders must be in writing too, though email or text agreement is enough.
If a contract contains an arbitration clause, it has to tell you that signing may waive your access to the LCB claim process and the business’s bond. Read that part.
4. Understand the bond and insurance. Licensed businesses carry a surety bond that can compensate you for breach of contract or negligent work, plus liability insurance covering damage to your property during the job. Bond requirements were updated on 1 January 2026, so a business licensed years ago should still be current — the lookup shows it.
5. Know your deadline. You have one year from substantial completion to file a claim with the LCB. There’s an optional pre-complaint letter giving the business 30 days to resolve things, but it does not extend that year. If you’re inside the final 30 days, file the claim instead.
The short version: a cash price with no written contract isn’t a bargain. It’s you giving up a bond, insurance, a mediation process, and a year of recourse to save a few per cent.

What extends timelines is rarely the building. It’s permitting and weather. City review takes weeks, and excavating saturated clay between November and March is slow going. Design over winter, build from spring.
Yes, and we’d encourage it. A new landscape is at its most vulnerable in its first two or three years, while roots establish — and Portland’s dry July and August catch out plantings that looked fine in May.
Ongoing lawn and yard care protects what you’ve just paid for, and it’s the cheapest work we sell. Recurring plans also mean seasonal timing looks after itself: aeration in the right week of September, irrigation blown out before the first freeze.

Oregon requires two credentials: an individual professional licence for the supervisor and a business licence for the contracting company.
